Aprilia brings its lightweight naked bike game to the next level with the all-new Tuono 457. Based on the award-winning RS 457, the Tuono 457 gets revised ergonomics, aggressive streetfighter styling, and a riding experience that rivals even larger middleweight motorcycles.

In this video, we take the Tuono 457 for a first ride and share our full impressions on its performance, handling, comfort, and value. With a 457cc parallel-twin engine, lightweight aluminum frame, and sharp chassis dynamics, the Tuono 457 aims to challenge bikes like the KTM 390 Duke and Kawasaki Z500.

Can the Tuono 457 be the new king of the lightweight naked class? Watch to find out.

00:00wow that quick shifter yeah
00:03this thing is so agile oh my goodness this is the new aprilio torno 457 heavily based off
00:14the rs457 which was a 10 best winner for 2024 this bike is basically just a restyled rs457
00:23with a flat handlebar a little bit more comfortable ergonomics i went on the original press launch
00:29for the rs457 and fell in love with the thing i love naked bikes so let's go ride the thing and
00:34figure out am i a new torno customer all right first start a 20457 let's see what this thing's
00:43all about so it looks like we're in sport mode atc aprilio traction control is set to level one
00:50it's the least intrusive you can also disable traction control just three traction control
00:55levels one two and three three bring the most intrusive and then you have three ride modes
01:00sport eco rain if you're familiar with the rs457 this is basically the same bike just with
01:06different styling obviously tuono styling you know naked bike ergonomics a little bit more upright a
01:12little bit more neutral but everything else is rs dna same engine same chassis same suspension same
01:19brakes and electronics package very much the rs457 and different clothes so this tuono uses the same
01:28457 cc parallel twin with a 270 degree crank it makes a claimed 47 horsepower 32 pound feet of torque
01:37it's got a six-speed transmission really the only difference is the to the rs is this bike has
01:44slightly shorter final gearing you have a 44 tooth sprocket at the rear or the rs has a 43 tooth rear
01:51sprocket
01:52i've only been on this bike the new tuono 457 for about a mile and i can already tell you
02:09i like this riding position so much more at least for street riding and of course the rs457 isn't
02:17super aggressive sport bike ergonomics but still it's more you know we leaned over more the reach
02:24to the bars is lower a little bit further i believe the seat height slightly higher so you're just a little
02:31bit more cramped and on the the rs and this tuono is super comfortable i could just commute on this thing
02:37all day i have more of an off-road background that's where i started riding motorcycles so i
02:42always feel just more comfortable on any motorcycle when i'm in more of a neutral riding position
02:48it's definitely taking time and today we have the accessory quick shifter bi-directional quick shifter
02:55with the auto blip function it'd be fun to try that quick shifter once we get up in the twisties
03:00if i was buying the rs457 or the tuono i i definitely would try to find the extra coin for the quick
03:07shifter works really well so one of the things i didn't love about the rs457 for riding on the street
03:14partially is you know the aggressive ergonomics of a sport bike but also just the suspension
03:22is pretty stiff on the rs457 and they had mentioned that at the original press launch for it that they
03:28really wanted something that was going to perform on the track and so i was curious coming into this i knew
03:34the ergonomics were going to be different i looked at the spec sheet and saw that it's the same
03:38suspension components i thought well surely they're gonna you know have lighter springs and stuff like
03:44that a little bit more comfortable on the road and i was surprised when they said no it's exactly the
03:49same from the rs457 and uh the rs457 beat me up a little bit commuting on it especially as a lighter
03:57rider at 125 pounds and uh been some bumps like that right there on the our journey so far on the
04:05tuono 457 and it feels i don't feel like i get so far i'm getting as beat up as i remember on the rs457
04:16and i think part of that could be due to being in a more neutral riding position just helps you kind of
04:22brace for those impacts a little bit more this tuono 457 really punches above its weight class from the
04:28engine the chassis the styling i mean this thing feels like it really could compete with something
04:33like an mt07 i'm uh very impressed so far aprilia says that this bike has the best in class power to
04:41weight ratio so least weight most power on paper but seems like a recipe for success
04:47we're getting into the twisties
04:50tires on this are called euro grip and they've actually been developed with this bike see how
05:01they do out here get some heat into them before we start going too fast it's a pretty chilly morning
05:07in italy today
05:08wow that quick shifter yeah
05:15this thing is so agile oh my goodness
05:22let's see if this thing can wheelie
05:33not bad
05:38second gear wheelie
05:40just like the rs457 this thing just feels like it's on rails
05:59just turns into a corner very nicely i'm in third gear right now riding a gear high
06:12no problem coming out of the corner getting out of the hole
06:16aprilia says the engine delivers about 82 percent of maximum torque at 3000 rpm
06:27we noticed that on the rs457 especially on track being able to stay in third gear even on tighter
06:36corners
06:37the rs457 has even more get up and go out of the hole
06:42with the shorter final gearing
06:49brakes are really good
06:57track control disabled and rear abs
07:02back into a corner a little bit
07:06it just feels so planted
07:10it's on the side of the tire
07:12this really feels like class leading performance in the lightweight category for naked bikes
07:20quick shifter is working brilliantly
07:25suspension
07:27very taut
07:29very sporty
07:31which i like
07:32can be hard on the front brake
07:35the whole front end just feels very
07:37the whole front end just feels very
07:41just stiff
07:42just very good front end feel just like the rs457
07:47the shock as well
07:50it doesn't wallow
07:52you don't get excessive movement on throttle coming out of a corner
07:56these tires have been working really well too
08:01these euro grip
08:01they haven't been
08:03feels like a softer compound
08:05it's uh
08:06no complaints from this bike
08:08quick shifter is working really good
08:10i love these ergonomics
08:12i love how you can
08:17adjust your ride modes
08:19your traction control settings on the fly
08:21you can even disable traction control on the fly
08:24and that just goes to show
08:27that aprilia
08:29is always keeping in mind performance
08:33and sort of that gp
08:35experience
08:36this chassis is so agile
08:49steering is so quick
08:50it just gets on the side of the tires so easily
08:52going from a switchback corner like that
08:56a little bit of handlebar input
08:58this 20457 is just on rails
09:02peak horsepower is way up at 9400 rpm
09:07so you just have this real nice spread of power from
09:11the low end torque
09:12to
09:13you know peak power almost up near the red line
09:16there's just it makes the engine very flexible
09:18i think that is what makes
09:21to me the 20457 better than the rs457
09:25obviously we're not going to get to ride it on the track today
09:28but i believe that this thing will be a shredder on the track
09:32just like the rs
09:33and of course that engine's flexible as well
09:36but this one's even more so
09:37with just that
09:39a little bit shorter gearing
09:41and also these comfortable ergonomics
09:44i mean this is a bike i could ride every day
09:46commute on through the city
09:48you know it seems pretty good at higher speeds
09:51it uh
09:52then of course you get on a twisty road
09:54and that's where this thing really performs
09:57it checks all the boxes for a naked bike
10:00and delivers performance that
10:04i don't think any other lightweight naked bike does
10:09it's transferring so easily
10:33third gear
10:41you can easily ride this thing at gear high
10:43in these tight corners
10:44here's a real tight hairpin
10:46stay in third gear
10:48on these tight corners
10:54you have just such good front end field
10:57so planted on the front end
10:59that it just gives you so much confidence
11:01to really get your max lean angle
11:03and feel comfortable looking through the corner
11:05and just get ready to screw on the power
11:07when you spot the exit
11:09back it in
11:19i love this bike
11:24it's got led lighting
11:26triple headlight design
11:29classic aprilia styling
11:31and it's got a little air duct up at the front
11:34that gives uh
11:35pays homage to the tuono 1000r
11:39from back in the day
11:40and this tuono
11:42is unlike any other tuono
11:44in the sense that it does not have a headlight cowl
11:47which was a departure from their styling on every other tuono
11:50and they wanted the 457
11:52to be have a distinctive look
11:54the tuono 457 definitely checks the performance box
11:58out on a twisty road
12:00but as far as riding through a city
12:02like this
12:03it checks that box equally as well
12:05it's a great little city commuter bike
12:07the upright riding position makes it comfortable
12:10so you can see a little bit farther
12:12but the harder you push it
12:14the better it feels
12:15just responds
12:16and it just gives you so much confidence
12:18to just lean a little harder
12:20get on the brakes a little harder
12:22screw the throttle on a little harder
12:24it's just it's such a confidence inspiring motorcycle
12:27because of the chassis
12:29the suspension
12:31the you have you know rider aids if you need them
12:35it just you just can go
12:38all right that's going to wrap up this onboard review
12:40of the tuono 457
